Obituary of Lefty Pitman

Elmer Paul Pitman, better known as "Lefty" was born in Beattyville, Kentucky, on December 7, 1932 to the late Roscoe Pitman and Geneva Sloan Pitman. He was one of seven siblings born to this union. Besides his parents, four brothers, Raymond Pitman, Charlie Pitman, Johnny Pitman, and Junior Pitman and one sister, Fannie Horn, also preceded Lefty in death. Lefty started out in life serving our Country as a veteran. He served from December 1950 until July 1953 during the Korean Conflict, in the 35th Infantry Regiment. After returning home, Lefty married the love of his life the former Frances Marie Dresser, on December 28, 1953. They shared almost fifty-nine years together, and raised four sons and three daughters. Lefty loved his family and cherished his time with the grandchildren and the great-grandchildren. Lefty and Frances lived in Phelan, California where he drove a truck for FT Express for several years, retiring in 2009. Lefty and Frances moved to Macon County, Tennessee making it their home in 2005. From the top of his hat to the toe of his boots, Lefty was a man of great character. He was a member of the Local VFW and enjoyed hanging out at the Senior Citizens Center. Lefty attended New Life Baptist Church. On November 19, 2012, Lefty left this world for a better place. His family and friends will greatly miss Lefty, and the joy he brought to everyone around him. A Memorial service for Lefty Pitman was conducted on Wednesday, November 21 at 4 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Breck Patterson officiating. Lefty is survived by; Loving Wife, Frances Dresser Pitman of Lafayette, TN, Sons, Paul (Cheryl) Pitman, Brian Pitman all of California, Karl (Susie) Pitman of Lafayette, TN, Mathew (Angela) Pitman of Ft. Campbell, Daughters, Alice Tellup of Lafayette, TN, Annette Pitman of Washington, Debbie (Patrick ) Guiheen of Connecticut, Dog, Goldie, Sister, Mary Horn of Ohio, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also survives.
