Obituary of Kermit Morris Marsh

Kermit Morris Marsh was born in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, on November 16, 1921 to the late Genie Bratton Marsh and Allie Payton Cosby Marsh. Kermit was fifteen years old when he was saved in his father's barn on October 12, 1936. He became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in 1940 and at the time of his death was the oldest member of Antioch Church. Kermit married the former Jewell Gertrude Martin on October 12, 1940 and they spent 63 happy years together. Kermit and Gertie began their married life in Macon County and then moved to Franklin, Kentucky where they remained until Gertie's death in 2003. He was a farmer and a Simpson County, Kentucky road employee for many years. Kermit and Gertie never had any children of their own but they blessed the lives of children around them with their love. He loved to entertain children of all ages with his jokes and stories and many of us enjoyed riding on his little cart behind his pony that he bought just for the kids in their lives. Kermit was also a talented musician who taught himself to play the piano and organ. He was a caring person who loved to cook and share his famous fried pies, country ham and sausage biscuits. He was also known to cook a mean mess of turnip greens. His wonderful friends at Shenandoah Apartments and at the Senior Citizens Center were some of his favorite friends to share his cooking. In addition to his wife and parents; Kermit was preceded in death by his sisters, Ogle Dallas and Ruby Gordon Stinson. On November 27, 2012, Kermit left this world for a much better place. He is now walking with Gertie in Heaven. He leaves many memories here for all those who love and will be greatly missed. Funeral services for Kermit were conducted Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Walter Andrews officiating.
