Obituary of Iva Jean Dozier

Iva Jean Sloan Dozier was born Friday, August 28, 1925 to the late Alvin and Vena Blankenship Sloan. She met the love of her life, Leonard Earl Dozier and they married on May 8, 1948. They shared sixty-four wonderful years together and had three sons, Roger Dale, Jackie David, and Leonard Neal. Jean was a homemaker and a full time mother, raising her boys on the family farm. She was always beside Earl, whether in the garden and or in the field raising crops. She enjoyed putting up garden vegetables for the family. Jean truly loved crocheting and putting her handwork in the County fair. In later years, she was blessed with five grandchildren, Jeffrey Dozier, Jennifer Dozier Eakles, Kyla Dozier, Katie Dozier, and Lindsey Dozier, and great grandchildren, Jacob Eakles and soon to arrive, Kinsley Grace Dozier. Jean was always doing something for them. Teaching them to crochet or make candy. She even let them help make their favorite, chicken and dumplings and whatever else they could do. Jean would let her great-grandson feed the chickens, sometimes feeding them way too much corn. She was saved on the second Sunday of Revival at Brattontown Missionary Baptist Church where she became a faithful member on August 22, 1948. On Wednesday, December 5, 2012, the Lord called Jean home. Earl, the family, and her many friends will greatly miss Jean, but our loss is Heaven's Gain. Funeral services for Iva Jean Dozier were conducted Saturday, December 8th, at 1 pm from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Daniel Cook and Elder Anthony Hale officiating.
