Obituary of Cathy Jo Upchurch

Cathy Jo Cates Upchurch was born in Macon County, Tennessee, on January 8, 1956 to the late Thomas Cates and Betty Pharris Cates. She was one of five siblings born to this union. Besides Cathy Jo's parents; brother, Danny Cates, and grandparents, Elmary and Earl Pharris also preceded her in death. Cathy Jo was employed by Carter's Automotive working on the assembly line for twenty years, before retiring in 2003. Cathy Jo was previously married and has two sons, Thomas and Benjamin Gregory. Later on June 19, 2003, she was married to Larry Upchurch, who survives. She loved to go vacationing with her family and being outdoors fishing. Cathy Jo enjoyed sitting back and watching her soap operas. She was a sweet and loving wife and mother. Cathy Jo was saved and a member of Brattontown Missionary Baptist Church. On Monday, December 10, 2012, the Lord called Cathy Jo home. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. A Memorial Service for Cathy Upchurch will be conducted Sunday, December 16th, at 4 pm from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Stephen Brooks officiating. Cathy is survived by, Husband, Larry Upchurch of Lafayette, TN, Sons, Thomas Gregory, and Benjamin Gregory both of Murfreesboro, TN, Sisters, Candy (Terry) Gann, Cindy Cates all of Lafayette, TN, Brother, Mike Cates of Arizona, Aunt, Pat (Jimmy) Shrum, Uncle, Joe (Linda) Pharris all of Lafayette, TN, Sister-in-law, Kathy Cates of Lafayette, TN, several nieces and nephews also survive.
