Obituary of Maudie Mae Brents

Maudie Brents, age 90, of Lafayette, Tennessee passed away on Friday, January 4, 2012 at her residence. Maudie was a Mississippi native; she was born November 15, 1922 in the Ratliff Community in Itawamba County, to Maggie Mae Briggman and Alva Marshall Whitehead. At the age of seven she moved to live with her foster parents Odie and Lavada Gunter Franks. Maudie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Brents; one daughter, Annette Brents, her brothers, Tommy and Johnny Ray Franks, Audie Morgan, J. W. and Claudie Whitehead, and her parents. She was a retired factory seamstress. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, working with her flowers in the yard and cooking. Maudie was especially known for her potato salad and chocolate pie. Maudie is a member of East Main Church of Christ in Tupelo, MS. She had recently moved to Lafayette to live with her daughter, Linda. A Celebration of Life was conducted Monday, January 7th, at 11 am from The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with her grandson, Reverend Thomas G. Jennings officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Methodist Church Cemetery near Okolona. W.D. Pegues Funeral Home in Tupelo was in charge of arrangements. Maudie is survived by; Daughters, Ruby (Bobby) Jolly, Margaret (David) Carter all of Hendersonville, TN, Alice Jennings of Tupelo, MS, Linda (Jim) Foster of Lafayette, TN, Sons, Earl (Donna) Brents of Blue Ridge, TX, Harvey (Tammy) Brents of Wagerville, AL, Sisters, Jane Roberts, and Lois Russell both of Tupelo, MS, eighteen grandchildren, forty-two great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren also survive.
