Obituary of Sylvia Jones

Sylvia Howser Jones was born in Macon County, Tennessee on December 8, 1928 to the late Joe Douglas and Gracie Mae Fishburn Howser. She was one of six children born to this union. As a young woman Sylvia was married to John Eugene Jones. Together they raised a son and a daughter and shared forty-eight years together before his passing in 1994. Besides her parents and husband; sister, Ruby Howser Johnson and brother, Jim Howser and twin brothers, Hillous and Tillous Howser also preceded her in death. Sylvia worked as a cook at Fairlane Elementary School for several years. She retired from public work around 1980 to care for her husband. Sylvia enjoyed knitting, sewing, and cooking. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was always wearing a smile. Sylvia was a member of Oakdale General Baptist Church. On Wednesday, February 6, 2013, the Lord called Sylvia home. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services for Sylvia Howser Jones were conducted on Friday, February 8, 2013, at 1p.m., from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home, with Reverend Carlene Kirby officiating. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Troy Russell, Chris Jones, Dustin Russell, Wayne Murphy, Moody Gregory, and Larry Davis served as pallbearers. Chad Shoulders, Corey Smith, Chris Woodard, and Chris Fryman served as honorary pallbearers. Sylvia is survived by; son, John D. Jones, daughter, Patricia Ann Garmon, grandsons, Chris and Lori Jones and Troy and Tonja Russell all of Lafayette, TN, sister, Vivian and Richard Davis of Crossville, TN, and several great and great great granchildren also survive
