Obituary of Robert & Barbara Solomon

Robert Edward Solomon was born in Mulberry, Tennessee on October 28, 1929 to the late Robert Lee Solomon and Sara Margaret Shoftner Solomon. Barbara Ann Solomon was born in Moultrie, Georgia on September 16, 1940 to the late Clifford Eugene McGahee and Mary Odessa Tillman McGahee. On August 19, 1962, Robert and Barbara married and shared fifty-one wonderful years together. They had a special bond between them and loved each other deeply. Besides they parents; Robert's sisters, Ellen Bearden and Dorris Barnes, Barbara's brothers, John Sterling "Butch", and William Colhoun "Billy", and sister, Willa Alice Crockarell also preceded them in death. Robert was a jack of all trades, working until becoming disabled around 1990. Barbara was a Register Nurse, graduating from Grady Memorial in Atlanta. She worked at Macon County General Hospital for fifty years, just recently retiring in September 2012. Barbara had become a fixture of the Hospital. Everyone who met her grew to loved and respected her. She had been a helping hand to many families in the surrounding area. Robert and Barbara revolved their life around their family. Their grandchildren received laps to sit on and plenty of hugs and kisses. They will truly miss them. Robert and Barbara were members of Macon Missionary Baptist Church. On the night of March 3, 2013, the Solomon's home went up in flames. Robert, Barbara and her sister, Alice who also lived with them did not make it out despite the efforts of a good friend and neighbor, who also lost his life. The Lord needed a beautiful bouquet for Heaven, and he truly received one. These four were sweet and beautiful people that will be miss by their families, the community, and the many friends that knew and loved them. Funeral services for Robert and Barbara Solomon were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Chris Solomon, Brother Wesley Pedigo, and Brother Christopher Solomon officiating. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Robert and Barbara are survived by; Daughter and Son-in-law, Pam (Mark) Pedigo of the Rocky Mound Community, Sons and Daughters-in-law, Chris (Allison) Solomon of Lebanon, TN, and William Edward "Eddie" (Louise) Kidd of Brooksville, FL, Grandchildren, Christopher (Terra) Solomon of Lafayette, TN, Kayla Renee Solomon of Lebanon, TN, Wesley Pedigo, and Lauren Pedigo both of the Rocky Mound Community, and Great-Grandchild, Evan Gene Solomon of Lafayette, TN.
