Obituary of Steven L. Barber

Stephen Leslie Barber, better known as Tom was born in Lafayette, Tennessee on July 5, 1950 to the late Leslie Odell Barber and Carrie Geneva Harp Barber. He was one of ten siblings born to this union. Tom was married to Barbara Jean Adams and has two children, Freida and Stephen, and two step-children, Heather and Matthew. Barbara preceded him in death. Besides his wife and parents; one sister, Ivy Belle Barber also preceded him in death. He worked in construction for several years, but when Tom was able, he enjoyed farming. Tom liked raising a big vegetable garden and killing hogs and making sausage. He had a headstrong personality and loved to argue. When the family and the grandkids came around, that big heart melted. Tom loved his family so much. Tom was saved and a member of New Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. On Saturday, March 23, 2013 the Lord called Tom home. He will be deeply missed by his family, and all who knew and loved him. Graveside Services was conducted Tuesday at 2 pm from the Drury Cemetery with Elder J. E. Shoulders officiating, Interment followed. He is survived by; Daughter, Freida Crawford of Dunlap, TN, Son, Stephen Barber & Fiancé Tiffany Adcock, Step-children, Heather Knight, and Matthew Carter all of Lafayette, TN, Sisters, Jean (Jerry) Meador of Lafayette, TN, Jolene (Roger) Gore of Gallatin, TN, Gail (Rhea) Dalton of Lafayette, TN, Barbara (Roger) Gregory of Hartsville, TN, Angie (Rick) Cook of Lafayette, TN, Brothers, David (Sheena) Barber of Lafayette, TN, Tim Barber of the Rocky Mound Community in Macon County, TN, Mark (Flor) Barber of Lafayette, seven Grandchildren, and seven Step-Grandchildren also survive.
