Obituary of James Robert Coker

James Robert Coker, better known as Robert, was born in Gallatin, Tennessee on October 4, 1953 to the late James "Jim" Coker and Ethelene Key Coker. He has two sons and six step-children. On November 7, 1992, Robert married the former Dorothy Mai Dyer sharing twenty years together. Robert worked in the auto industry most of his life, retiring in 2008. He enjoyed the craft of wood working and time spent working in his vegetable garden. Robert also liked to raise different types of flowers. He was a husband, father, grandfather; who enjoyed spending time being with his family and traveling. On Sunday, March 31, 2013, the Lord called Robert home. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. Funeral services for Robert Coker were conducted on Tuesday, April 2, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Jimmy Case officiating. Luther Brummitt, Johnny Sullivan, Joe Elliott, Bobb Sullivan, Jake Sullivan, and Terry Lee Dyer, III served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Eulia Cemetery. Robert is survived by; Wife, Dorothy Coker of Lafayette, TN, Sons, Jonathan David Coker of Westmoreland, TN, and Mathew Kelly (Stephanie) Coker of Milton, FL, Step-Children, Sharon (Danny) Troutt of Lafayette, TN, Karen Faye McPherson of Adams, TN, Bobby (Reba) Sullivan of Bethpage, TN, Timmy (Becky) Scruggs of Castalian Springs, TN, John (Bridgett) Sullivan of Bethpage, TN, and Lisa (Joe) Elliott of Franklin, KY, nine Grandchildren, fourteen Step-Grandchildren, twelve Great-Grandchildren, and one nephew, Michael Mason that lived with Robert and Dot.
