Obituary of Hearl Gene Franklin

Hearl Gene Franklin, 86, of Scottsville, Kentucky died Monday, April 22, 2013, at the Medical Center at Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Allen County native was the son of the late Pearson Franklin and Ida Pearl Stinson Franklin. As a seventeen year old boy, he served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Pasadena, one of the escort ships during the Japanese surrender. On October 16, 1954, Hearl married the former Ramona Dillard sharing 58 years together. He spent most of his working years in heavy construction, having worked on both the Saint Lawrence Seaway and the Alaskan pipeline projects. He was a member of Lafayette VFW and also the Masonic Lodge in Fountain Run, Kentucky. Hearl was a member of Rough Hill Missionary Baptist Church Funeral Services for Hearl Gene Franklin were conducted on Monday, April 29th, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Glenn Sanders and Elder Jeff Blackwell officiating. Interment followed in the Akersville Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ramona Marie Dillard Franklin of Scottsville; a sister, Edna Franklin Wilson of Lafayette, Tennessee; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri Marie Franklin (Steve) Holder of Scottsville; a granddaughter, Rebekah Lane Holder McKinney of Scottsville; and a grandson, Aaron Franklin Holder of Scottsville.
