Obituary of Wilma Dean Gann Jones

Wilma Dean Gann Jones was born in Macon County, Tennessee on September 18, 1939 to the late Johnnie Frankin "Dib" Gann and Tina Cothron Gann. She was one of eight siblings born to this union. Wilma was married to Thomas Junior Russell in 1956, sharing twenty-five years together. They had three daughters and three sons. Thomas preceded her in death in May of 1981. Later in 1984, she was married to J. C. Jones and gained three daughters, and one son. Wilma and J.C. shared fifteen years together before his passing in December of 1999. Besides her husbands and parents; one daughter, Margie Mitchell, three brothers, Eugene Gann, Kenneth Gann, and Bobby Gann, and four sisters, Georgia Butcher, Dorothy Gann, Linda Thompson, and Novella Burford also preceded her in death. She sold Avon to help make ends meet and really excelled in the business. Wilma's life revolved around her whole family, from youngest to oldest. The love she had for them was way beyond measure. Before her health began to diminish, Wilma enjoyed shopping and going out to eat. Aunt Gertie was her eyes for many years and her best friend. She had many friends in the community that continued to reach out to her through the years. Wilma was so blessed to have Amedisys Healthcare and her caregivers, Jeannie Shoulders, Donna Ethridge, Pamela Henry, and daughter, Tammy. They had so much love and respect for Wilma, and took great care of her needs. Wilma was saved as a young girl at Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church and became a member there. On May 6, 2013, the Lord called Wilma home. She is now seeing the wonders and beauties of Heaven. Funeral Services for Wilma Dean Gann Jones were conducted Thursday at 11 am from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Don Curtis and Reverend Edward Ferrell officiating. Ted Russell, Bradley Russell, David Russell, T.J. Russell, Trey Russell, and Wesley White served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Haysville Cemetery. Wilma is survived by; Daughters and son-in-law, Penny (Terry) Carter of Lafayette, TN, Candy Jenkins of Springfield, TN, Tammy Creek of Lafayette, TN, Tonya Reid, and Julie Potts both of Indiana, Sons and daughters-in-law, Mark (Jan) Russell of Scottsville, KY, Nicky (Deborah) Russell of Westmoreland, TN, Cory Russell of Lafayette, TN, and Mike Jones of Indiana, Sisters-in-law, Pat Gann, Billie Gann, Madelline Russell, and Estell Cox, nine Grandchildren and seven Great-Grandchildren, also survive.
