Obituary of Kenneth C. Doss

Kenneth C. Doss was born in Macon County, Tennessee on May 5, 1926 to the late Elzie Samuel Doss and Gracie Fishburn Doss. He was one of four siblings born to this union. Besides his parents; Brothers, Curtis Doss and Calson Doss, and Sister, Evelle Doss also preceded him in death. As a young man, Kenneth served from 1944 to 1946 in the Navy as a Radar Operator, during World War II. After returning home, he went to college and finished with a Masters Plus 30 Degree. Kenneth went to work for the Macon County Board of Education. He started as a Teacher for several years, and climbed the ladder as a Principal and then served as Superintendent for four years, before retiring on June 30, 1984. During this time he met the former Margaret Helen Williams, better known as Helen and married in August of 1951. They shared thirty-eight years together and raised one daughter, Kathy. Helen preceded Kenneth in death in August 1989. In 1990, he married Vonza Cliburn sharing almost twenty-three years together. A quite natured and well respected person is what most people thought of Kenneth. He was saved and a member of Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church. On June 8, 2013 at the age of 87, the Lord called Kenneth to his new home. Kenneth was such a caring and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. Funeral services for Kenneth Doss were conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 10 from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder G. W. Knight officiating. Randall Cliburn, Donald Gann, Billy Fishburn, Benny Doss, and Lattie Williams served as Honorary Pallbearers. Jackie McClard, Vin Cline, Glenn Doss, Greg Cline, Ricky Rather, and Todd Cliburn served Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens. Kenneth is survived by: Wife, Vonza Cliburn Doss of Hendersonville, TN, Daughter, Kathy (Steve) Wiser, Grandchildren, Jason Wiser, and Dena (Keith) Lemelin, Great Grandchild, Xander Lemelin all of Richmond, VA.
