Obituary of Wendell High

Wendell Lee High was born in Tompkinsville, Kentucky on August 8, 1940 to the late Oval High and Lizzy Rouse High. He was one of two siblings born to this union. Besides his parents; one infant brother and Wendell's mother-in-law, May Woods Cothron also preceded him in death. As a young man, Wendell married and had one son, Tony and one daughter, Bonita. Later on February 15, 1980, he married Shirley Woods Whittemore and gained two step-sons, Ricky and Ronnie. Wendell and Shirley were happily married for thirty-three years. Wendell was a Butcher and worked for Food Lion in Portland, TN, until retiring in 2010. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. Wendell enjoyed being with his family and playing with his best friend, Tinker Bell; his Pomeranian. Wendell was a dedicated member of Lafayette First Baptist Church. On Sunday, June 30, 2013, the Lord called Wendell to his new home. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Memorial services for Wendell High were conducted Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 2 pm from Lafayette First Baptist Church with Brother Eric Hinson, Brother Warren Rose, Brother Jerry Peace, and Brother John Racioppa officiating. Wendell is survived by; Loving Wife, Shirley Ann Whittemore High of Lafayette, TN, Son and Daughter-in-law, Tony (Beth) High of Tompkinsville, KY, Daughter and Son-in-law, Bonita (Nick) Spiegal of Clarksville, TN, Step-sons, Ricky Whittemore of Lafayette, TN, Ronnie (Tammy) Whittemore of Sylvania, OH, Granddaughters, Brooke High of Tompkinsville, KY, Casi (Carl) Owens of Glasgow, KY, Grandsons, Cole and Alex Whittemore of Sylvania, OH, and Wendell's little Pomeranian- Tinker Bell.
