For most of her life Dorothy was a home-maker and worked on the farm raising tobacco, milking cows, raising chickens and gardening. Later in life, she went to work at Sportswear until retirement age where she made a host of friends. Dorothy was known by all that knew her as a fun loving, caring, and hardworking, sweet lady. She enjoyed the simpler things in life from playing with grandchildren in the yard, quilting, working in her flowers, raising a garden, hayrides, playing bingo at Christmas, or petting her little dog Cricket. She loved her family and she and Bernice made a happy loving home for their children. She enjoyed gospel singings and all of her children were part of gospel groups. One of her favorite songs, "I'm A Winner Either Way," is a testament, to the many loved ones she leaves behind, that she was satisfied with her life here on earth, but was ready to be reunited with Bernice, and the many others that she loved and missed.
