Obituary of Darrell Parker McCauley

McCAULEY, Darrell Parker, age 74, went home to be with his Lord Jesus on April 1, 2017. A native of Chattanooga, TN, he was a 1960 graduate of Chattanooga Central High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He attended The Southern Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY, and graduated with a Masters in Church Music. Darrell was ordained to the gospel ministry and served as minister of music, education, youth, singles, senior adults and associate pastor for several Baptist churches for over 35 years in Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia before retiring in 2004 to Mt. Juliet, TN. He was a member of the Hamilton County Tennessee Baptist Association, serving on the Personnel, Property and Evangelism committees; the Tennessee Baptist Convention, serving as music festival adjudicator for children, youth and adult choirs, Tennessee Baptist Chorale and active participant in the Concord Baptist Association of Christian Educators, Georgia Baptist Religious Education Association, Southern Baptist Church Music Conference, Georgia Baptist Church Music Conference and the Baptist History and Heritage Society. He most recently was a member of The First Baptist Church Donelson, serving as a deacon and member of the senior adult choir. Darrell's education and accomplishments were a result of his heart's desire to dedicate his life to serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, teaching others to love God's Word and leading the church in worshipping God. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Marguerite McCauley and twin brother, Dwight Stephen McCauley. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Downs McCauley; daughters, Annette McCauley Day (Brian) and Laura Jane McCauley Gregory (Jason); grandson, Jeremy Andrew Day; granddaughter, Allison Elise Day; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A service of celebration of Darrell's life will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Rev. Jim Cross and Rev. Jack Barron officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm and from 2:00 pm until time of service on April 8, 2017.
