Obituary of Floyd Jess Birdwell, Jr.

Floyd Jess Birdwell, Jr., age 64 of Portland, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017.  Funeral Service will be Thursday, November 2nd at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., with Bro. D. W. Story and Bro. Kenneth Summers officiating.  Visitation will be at Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home (100 Albert Gallatin Avenue) on Tuesday, October 31st from 4-8p.m., Wednesday, November 1st from 11:00 – 8:00 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. and visitation on Thursday, November 2nd at the church from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Andy Birdwell, Caleb Greene, John Austin Birdwell, Clayton Boyd, Collin Greene, Carter Birdwell, Vince Marquez, and Wayne Walker serving as pallbearers. 

Mr. Birdwell was born July 14, 1953 in Gallatin to the late Floyd Jess Birdwell, Sr. and Rebecca Browner Sumpter.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Robert Love and Marvin “Butch” Wooten.  He is survived by wife of 45 years, Belinda Gammon Birdwell of Portland; children,  John Birdwell (Joanna) of Gallatin,  Jason Birdwell of Portland,  Amy Birdwell Greene of Gallatin, and Jess Birdwell, III (Lindy) of Portland; brothers, Charles Browner (Juanita) of Portland and Robert Browner (Ruth) of Portland; sisters, Debbie Jones (Roger) of Hendersonville, Jettie Creasy of Westmoreland, Teresa Jones (David) of Hartsville, and Peggy Baskerville Bass (Frank) of Portland; sister-in-law, Nancy Love of Alabama; 12 grandchildren, Caitlin Plantinga (John), Andy Birdwell, Caleb Greene, John Austin Birdwell, Clayton Boyd, Madison Birdwell, Collin Greene, Emma Birdwell, Jordan Birdwell, Carter Birdwell, Autumn Birdwell, and Amelia Grace Birdwell; and 2 great grandchildren, Deacon Greene and Gunner Plantinga.  Floyd retired from R.
