Obituary of Gary Wirth
Gary J. Wirth, age 56, died at home in Hermitage (Nashville), Tennessee on November 13, 2017. Originally from Shaler Township, PA, he was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering. His career in mining began in Bluefield, VA, and took him back to Pittsburgh, PA; Charlotte, NC; Birmingham, AL; Taos, NM; and Nashville, TN. He specialized in Mine Safety.
He loved Alabama Crimson Tide football & the Pittsburgh Steelers, in addition to the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Pitt Panthers.
Gary had many hobbies, including playing and coaching baseball and softball & playing football and many other sports. He loved building anything out of wood and remodeling the family homes. He was quite the handyman and family man.
He is preceded in death by his dad, John W. Wirth, and friend/brother-in-law, Kenneth P. Steppling, and also his grandparents. He leaves behind his wife of 34 years, high school sweetheart and best friend, Linda Steppling Wirth; their two amazing daughters, Shelton Wirth and Allison Wirth; his mother, Pearl Wisniewski Wirth, sisters Cindy Wirth Gross and Susan (Todd) Novelli, and the entire Steppling & Wirth families, including many nieces & nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Saint Edwards Catholic Church in Nashville, TN. Visitation with the family will begin on Friday, November 17th from 5-8 p.m. at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet.
