Obituary of Robert Carl Elrod

Robert Carl Elrod, age 75 of Portland, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018.  Funeral Service will be Monday, February 5^th at 12:00 p.m. from the chapel of Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home (100 Albert Gallatin Avenue), with Bro. Eugene Mays officiating.  Visitation will be Sunday, February 4^th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Monday, February 5^th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with Logan Slagle, Taylor Thacker, Tyler Thacker, Michael Castro, Michael Elrod, Tony Elrod, and David Carter serving as pallbearers. 

Mr. Elrod was born December 6, 1942 in Jackson County, TN to the late Marvin Ray Elrod and Retta Jones Elrod.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter, Cathy Paulette Allen; and brothers, Thomas Elrod and Phillip Elrod.  He is survived by wife of 43 years,  Louise “Susie” Shrum Elrod of Portland; son, Jimmy Carl Elrod (Sandra) of Elmwood; daughters, Brenda Adams of Whitehouse and Tina Slagle (Steve) of Portland; sister, Ruth Carter (Billy) of Granville; 10 grandchildren, Angel Gonzales, Lacey Weston, Jaclyn Chastain, Samantha Castro, Brittany West, Brett Coble, Taylor Thacker, Tyler Thacker, Abbi Slagle, and Logan Slagle;  4 great grandchildren, Noah Coble, Blaine West, Jada Slagle, and Coltyn Weston.  Mr. Elrod retired from Nashville Bridge Company after 28 years of service.  Online condolences may be submitted at alexanderheritagefh.com.  Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home has been honored with arrangements.
