Obituary of William Armel Stinson

William Armel “Buddy” Stinson, age 64 of White House, passed away very suddenly Saturday, February 3, 2018.

Buddy was born on October 27, 1953 in Orangeburg S.C. to William (Bill) Alva Stinson and Lorell Speakman Stinson. Lorell died in an accident when Buddy was young.  His daddy married Alice Leigh Pullen and she became Buddy’s mom when he was nine. In 1978 Buddy married the love of his life, Nancy Taylor Stinson, together for almost 40 years, Buddy and Nancy stayed completely devoted to each other.

In the early 1980’s Buddy became the father of Melissa (Misa) Lorell and then Jonathan (Jon) Michael. Melissa Stinson married Darren Ferree. Jon married Beth Breland, and blessed Buddy with two grandchildren; Sophia Clare age seven, and Finnegan Taylor age four.  To the grandbabies Buddy was Poppy. Buddy loved his children and adored his grandchildren. He was always ready with a perfect Yoda or Cookie Monster impression.

Buddy was an IT specialist contracted to the US Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District.  He was devoted to this work and proved that some superheroes have admin privileges.

At home Buddy was an avid photographer and would spend hours waiting patiently for the perfect shot of a butterfly in their gardens or a bee that landed on a wildflower in a corner of the field that he left untouched for them. He worked hard both at the office and at home and could often be found on his tractor in the evenings or working with his wife in their vegetable and flower gardens. He was also a beekeeper later in life and became quite knowledgeable and enjoyed tending his hive.

Buddy had a deep faith that wasn’t outwardly shared but always there.  His life centered around his absolute love for his family.  Buddy was loved and there are no words to express how much he will be missed.

Visitation will be Friday, February 9th from 11:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home (100 Albert Gallatin Avenue, Gallatin, TN 37066).  Graveside Service, with words of comfort offered by Buddy’s brother, Pastor Michael Stinson, will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Spring Hill Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Pike-South, Nashville, TN  37216.  Jon Stinson, Darren Ferree, Mike Stinson, Jake Stinson, Mike Maupin, and Chris Rippetoe serving as pallbearer.  Online condolences may be submitted at alexanderheritagefh.com.  Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home has been honored with arrangements.
