Obituary of Joe W. Taylor

Joe W. Taylor, age 74 of Gallatin, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018.  Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 15th at Hartsville Pike Church of Christ (744 Hartsville Pike, Gallatin, TN  37066) at 3:00 p.m., with Bro. Doyle Farris and Bro. Brian Jarrett officiating.  Visitation will be Monday, May 14th at Hartsville Pike Church of Christ from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 15th from 1:00 until time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the church.  Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with Garrett Taylor, Kaylor Gaines, Kolby Gaines, Ray Ball, Joe Pedigo, Tom Franklin, Glenn Haynes, and Barry Goldsmith serving as pallbearers. 

Mr. Taylor was born September 11, 1943 in South Tunnel to the late Ira and Frances Durham Taylor.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Harold Taylor and Gordon Taylor; and sisters, Margaret Johnson, Mable Franklin, and Callie Frances Long.  He is survived by wife of 48 years, Virginia Ball “Ginger” Taylor; son, Brian Taylor (Tonya) of Gallatin; daughter, Dianne Gaines of Gallatin; brother, Kenneth Taylor (Mary Frances) of Gallatin; sisters, Katherine Haynes of Gallatin, Delores  Lopez (Jim) of Elgin, TX, and Carolyn Goldsmith of Upton, KY; 4 grandchildren, Shelby Taylor, Garrett Taylor, Kaylor Gaines, and Kolby Gaines; brother-in-law, Ray Ball; sister-in-law, Dorothy Pedigo (Joe); and many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Taylor was a retired Church of Christ Minister, serving in Sumner, Smith, and Trousdale Counties.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Potter Children’s Home, 2350 Nashville Road, Bowling Green, KY 42101, or Heritage Christian University, P. O.
