Obituary of Willard S. Jones, Jr.

Willard S. “Junior” Jones, Jr., 94, died August 9, 2018, in Hendersonville. He resided in Gallatin his entire life.

He was preceded in death by his parents W. S. and Hattie Mae Moss Jones and all seven of his siblings: brothers: Baxter, Keller, and Woodrow Jones, and sisters: Ava Dale Smith, Lorene Roberts, Roberta Hackett, and Winnie Jones. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Norma Daniel Jones and one daughter, Sandra (Stephen) Weakley of Gallatin, and one son, Sam (Jo Beth) Jones of Calvert City, KY. Four grandchildren, Natalie Vantrease (Matthew Masters), Jamie (Horacio) Gomez, Kristen (Will) Lockhart, and Conner Jones; four great-grandchildren, Eli Gomez, Zoe Johnson, Mia Gomez, and Landry Lockhart all survive.

He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired after 35 years with First Tennessee Bank as a senior vice president, and was on the board of directors for 28 years. He was a lifelong member of the Gallatin First Presbyterian Church where memorials may be made in his name. He served the church as a deacon and as treasurer. He also was treasurer of the Gallatin Jaycees, Sertoma Club, March of Dimes and the American Red Cross. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening, playing bridge, golf and shooting pool. No funeral service is planned at this time. The family wishes to thank Willowbrook Hospice who gave him comfort in his final hours.
