Obituary of Elbert Delano Graves

Elbert Delano Graves, age 85 of Bethpage, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018.  Funeral Service will be Sunday, September 2nd at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home (100 Albert Gallatin Avenue), with Bro. Alex Jackson and Bro. Mike Potts officiating.  Visitation will be Saturday, September 1st from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 2nd from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00 p.m.  Interment, with military honors, will follow the service at Bethpage Upper Cemetery, with Dickie Alexander, Jeff Cooper, Bucky May, Kevin Barker, Brandon Troutt, Kenny Dixon, Mike Scott, and Danny “Gooch” Stewart serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Graves was born January 18, 1933 in Franklin, KY to the late Hubert Bunch Graves and Erma T. Garrett Graves.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Debbie Graves.  He is survived by wife of 66 years, Ruth Hilda Carter Graves; son, Steve Graves (Teresa) of Bethpage; 5 granddaughters, Mary Ruth Dixon (Kenny), Haley Barker (Kevin), Glenda Troutt (Brandon), Amanda Ross Gregory (Kelly), and Sara Ross (Mike Scott); and 6 great grandchildren, Eli Barker, Maddie Troutt, Millie Troutt, and Harper Scott, Brooklyn Parker, and Jaylyn Cantrell.  Mr. Graves was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He served our country in the United States Army.  He was an active member of Bethpage United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Bethpage Masonic Lodge #521.  He retired from Pirelli Armstrong Tire Company after 34 years of service.  In addition, he was a farmer and business owner.  Online condolences may be submitted at alexanderheritagefh.com.  Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home has been honored with arrangements.
