Obituary of Ruth Woodall Briley

Ruth Woodall Briley, age 89 of Portland, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2018.  Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 22^nd at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1875 East A. B. Wade Road, Portland, TN  37148, with Bro. Brad Carver officiating.  Visitation will be Friday, September 21^st from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home, 100 Albert Gallatin Avenue, and Saturday, September 22^nd at the church from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with Ben Briley, Chris Slayton, James Harvey, David Harvey, Kenny Woodall, Jim Woodall, Ron Key, and Randy Kirkham serving as pallbearers. 

Mrs. Briley was born November 8, 1928 in Fountain Head, TN to the late James Roy Woodall and Lucy Pearl Barber Woodall.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Elder James Wesley Briley, who was well known as a Missionary Baptist Minister in Smith, Trousdale, Macon, and Sumner County; brothers, Talmadge Woodall and William Kenneth Woodall.  She is survived by sons, Ronnie and Glenda Briley of Castalian Springs and John Roy and Tribby Graves Briley of Gallatin; sister, Bettie Jean Harvey of Gallatin; and 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Briley, Ben and Courtney Briley, and Meggie and Chris Slayton.  Sister Briley was saved by God’s Grace in 1947 and joined Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death.  Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o Dan Jenkins, 115 North Leath Road, Portland, 37148.  Online condolences may be submitted at alexanderheritagefh.com.  Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home has been honored with arrangements.
