Obituary of Jimmy Thompson, Sr.

Jimmy Thompson, Sr., age 84 of Gallatin, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018.  Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 23rd at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home, 100 Albert Gallatin Avenue, with Dr. Wade Powers officiating.   Visitation will be Monday, October 22nd from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 23rd from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.   Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with Stewart Thompson, Larry Thompson, David “Speedy” Thompson III, Jerry Smith, Christan Lozano, and Buddy Wilkins serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Freeman Thompson and Sam Thompson.

Mr. Thompson was born December 16, 1933 in Bethpage, to the late David Thompson, Sr. and Rosie Proctor Thompson.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son, Jimmy “Jimbo” Thompson, Jr.; daughter, Laurie Ann Thompson; brothers, Donnie Thompson and David Thompson, Jr.; and sister, Anna Jo Callis.  He is survived by son, Stacey Neal Thompson (Stacey) of Gallatin; brothers, Freeman Thompson (Sheila) of Gallatin and Sam Thompson of Lawrenceburg; sister, Cindy Smith (Jerry) of Bransford Community; 3 grandchildren, Brittany Thompson, Cassie Thompson, and Stewart Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Thompson served our country in the United States Army and retired from TVA after many years of service.  Online condolences may be submitted at alexanderheritagefh.com.  Alexander Family Heritage Funeral Home has been honored with arrangements.
