Obituary of Roy Lee Meyer

Roy Lee Meyer, age 76, of Lebanon TN entered into the gates of Heaven on October 21, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.  Mr. Meyer was born in Belleville, Illinois on September 5, 1942.   The Celebration of Life is 4 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon TN.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the service.

He was preceded in death by his father George Nelson Meyer and his mother Maggie (Wright) Meyer.  Mr Meyer was survived by his long loving and devoted wife Marlene (Schmittling) Meyer; his sons Todd (Edie) Meyer and Scott (Cory) Meyer.  He leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many loved nieces and nephews.

In his early years he was a devoted entrepreneur opening many successful businesses and owning several franchises.  He was a devoted family man and diligently worked hard over the years to ensure that he provided for us.

Roy was the proud owner of Big D Kennels and Hatchery (named after his grandson Daniel) where he devoted his retirement years both raising and training bird dogs and quail.  He was an avid competitor in the National Shoot to Retrieve Association on the local and national level.  Roy was a valued member of this organization, well known for his depth of knowledge and his competitive spirit by competing in timed hunting trials alongside friends and fellow hunters as well as judging, he also supported by supplying any requested needs for these events.

We take comfort in the fact that he is with Christ and will share in Heaven’s Glory. He was deeply loved by his wife and family and will be missed more than words can express.
