Obituary of Gerald Harlan Mills

Gerald “Jerry” Harlan Mills age 93, of Gallatin, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday October 22, 2018.  He was born on January 31, 1925 in Danville, Illinois the son of the late Margaret & Harlan Mills.  

He retired in 1989 from the Material & Fuel Company, after 52 years of service.  Jerry was a member of Southside Christian Church and Second Church of Christ, in Danville, Illinois, serving in both. After moving to Champaign, Illinois, he and Jane served at First Christian Church.  He served as an elder in all three congregations.

Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1947 and was awarded the Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister. 

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jane Mills, who he lovingly called “Janie”, with whom he celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary on January 21st; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda & Dennis A. Bratton, of Gallatin, TN; one son and daughter-n-law, Ken & Lou Anne Mills, of Champaign, Illinois; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
