Obituary of Bill Bentley

William H. (Bill) Bentley, age 84 of Lebanon, passed away at home Saturday, January 12th, 2019.  Preceded in death by wife Laura Bentley, father John Bentley, mother Rubye Bentley, and sister Charlene Key.  Survived by sons, Micky Bentley and Marty Bentley; daughters-in-law, Ann Bentley and Rhea Anne Bentley; grandchildren, Scott Bentley, Steven Bentley, Jessica Hayden, Hunter Hayden, Emily Pettigrew, Colin Pettigrew, Ryan Bentley, and Amanda Bentley; and great-grandchildren, Liam Hayden and Isaac Bentley.

Mr. Bentley was a graduate of Lebanon High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University.  Mr. Bentley served in the Army as a draftsman.  Following his service, Mr. Bentley worked as a designer/draftsman on the Interstate Highway System for various firms.  In 1961, Mr. Bentley began working for the Tennessee Department of Transportation and held several positions, including Director of Maintenance, prior to his retirement in 1996.

After retirement, Mr. Bentley and his wife Laura enjoyed traveling, boating, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.  Mr. Bentley was an active member in the Baptist church, most recently at West Haven Baptist church.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019 from noon to 3 p.m. at Sellars Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Sellars Funeral Home.  Pastor Dr. Jonathan Richerson will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to West Haven Baptist Church.
