Obituary of Laura "Leona" Jenkins

Laura “Leona” Jenkins, age 92 of Gallatin, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019.  Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 12th at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home.  Visitation will be Tuesday, March 12th from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 4:00 p.m.  Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Daniel Jenkins, Randall Carter, Joseph Cornwell, Brandon Maynard, Mike Douglas, and Michael Farrell serving as pallbearers.  Memorials may be made to Gallatin First United Methodist Church, 149 West Main Street, Gallatin, TN  37066.

Mrs. Jenkins was born October 7, 1926 in Madison County, TN to the late James Ervin Robinson and May Malinda Smith Robinson.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, D. H. Jenkins; infant daughter; brother, James Allen Robinson; and sisters, Ann Nattier, Laverne Parrish, and Beatrice Slaughter.  She is survived by son, Daniel Wynne Jenkins (Christy) of Spanish Fort, AL; daughters, Brenda Carter (Charles) of Bethpage and Donna Young of Gallatin; 9 grandchildren, Carley Jenkins, Wynne Jenkins, Ashton Jenkins, Brady Jenkins, Randall Carter, Catherine Cornwell (Joseph), Leslie Maynard (Brandon), Jesse Young, and Aaron Young; and 5 great grandchildren, Aubri Maynard, Carter Maynard, Andrew Maynard, Noah Hunroe, and Joanna Fuqua.  Mrs. Jenkins grew up on a farm near Jackson, Tennessee.  She graduated from Medina High School and Draughon Business College in Nashville.  She and her husband were co-owners of D.H. Jenkins General Contractor for over 50 years. They also owned and operated Wynnwood Farms in Castalian Springs, TN for over 32 years.  She and D. H. owned and managed Galemont and Parkway Apartments, for many years as well.  She loved her family, cooking, collecting recipes, reading, and all sports.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.  Family Heritage Funeral Home has been honored with arrangements.
