Obituary of Mabel Ford Brawner

Mabel Ford Brawner, age 85 of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2019.  Funeral Service will be conducted Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Rev. Doug Lee officiating.  Visitation with the family will be Monday, May 13th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m., with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 p.m., and Tuesday, May 14th from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow in Crestview Memory Gardens, with James Brawner, Matt Brawner, Ralph Ford, John Ford, George Snow, and John Birdwell honoring her as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers are Charles Carr, Kenneth Carr, Bethpage # 5 Order of the Eastern Star, and 2009 Tennessee Order of the Eastern Star Grand Family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital c/o Al Menah Shrine Center, 1354 Brick Church Pike, Nashville, TN 37207.

Mrs. Brawner was born June 29, 1933 in Gallatin to the late James Andrew Ford and Vallie Pruett Womack Ford.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Edward Brawner, Jr.  She is survived by son, Ron Brawner (Judy) of Gallatin; daughters, Mary Beth Lindsey (Jim) of Portland and Jean Brawner of Westmoreland; brother, James P. “Bob” Ford of Gallatin; 5 grandchildren, Heather Allen (Eli), Elizabeth Brawner, James Brawner, Matt Brawner (Heather), and Sally Lindsey; and 3 great grandchildren, Addison Brawner, Hudson Brawner, and Aubrey Brawner.  Mrs. Brawner served as the pianist at Salem United Methodist Church in Gallatin for over 60 years.  She graduated nursing school in 1955 from St. Thomas School of Nursing in Nashville. Mrs. Brawner worked at Community Hospital in Gallatin and was a nurse for Dr. Sanders until her retirement.  She was a long time member and Past Matron of Bethpage #5 Order of the Eastern Star.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.  Family Heritage Funeral Home has been honored with arrangements.
