Dr. Tommy; Beloved husband of Dr. Elizabeth (nee Misskelly) Mitchell; Devoted father of Mary Elizabeth Mitchell, Ashley Ann (Russel) Hufford, and Sarah Katherine Mitchell; Dear grandfather of Judy Fantine Hufford and Killian Montgomery Hufford; Brother of Mary Katherine “Sissy” (Mike) McDuffee and the late Ralph Lynn Mitchell; Uncle of Mitch (Alison) McDuffee and their children Marnie and Graham, Andy (Victoria) McDuffee and their child Emilia, Katie McDuffee, and the late Brandon McDuffee; Passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, at the age of 62; Resident of Hebron, KY. Tommy graduated from Vanderbilt Medical School and completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Affiliated Hospitals. He practiced medicine from 1984–2006 with the Sumner Medical Group in Gallatin, TN. From 2006–present, he was a full-time speaker at Answers in Genesis where he authored many publications and was also the author of the Wonders of the Human Body book series. He was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Visitation will be held at Friendship Baptist Church, 8580 Cheviot Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45239 on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2019, from 3 PM until time of Funeral Service at 6 PM (the service will be live steamed from the church); Graveside Service will be held at Crestview Memorial Park, 1623 Scotty Parker Rd., Gallatin, TN 37066 on Monday at 1 PM (Central Time). Donations may be sent to Answers in Genesis or to Friendship Baptist Church.
