Obituary of Robert E. "Bob" Cowens, Sr.

Robert E.” Bob” Cowens, Sr., age 80 of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019. Funeral Service will be Sunday, December 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, December 22nd from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with Jacob Cowens, Bradley Thompson, Shane Sparks, Shaun Sparks, Joey Williams, and Keith Cowens serving as pallbearers. Mr. Cowens was born September 14, 1939 in Yellowbud, Ohio to the late John M. Cowens and Mary B. Parker Cowens. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by infant daughter, Vicki Lynn Cowens; brother, John D. Cowens; and his twin sister, Betty Mettler. He is survived by wife of 58 years, Berta Sparks of Gallatin; son, Robert E. “Robby” Cowens, Jr. (Janie) of Jamestown, TN; daughter, Carla Buher of Gallatin; brother, Charles Cowens (Joan) of Xenia, Ohio; 3 grandchildren, Sarah Buher, Kasey Thompson (Bradley), and Jacob Cowens; and 2 great grandchildren, Adlee Kate Thompson and Tori Lynn Barfield. Mr. Cowens worked for Circuit City in sales and retired from Nashville Gas. After retirement, he worked as a Security Officer at Sumner Regional Medical Center.
