Obituary of Robert E. Cox

Robert E. Cox, age 70 of Gallatin, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2019. Funeral Service will be Monday, December 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at Gallatin First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Monday, December 23rd from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Gallatin First United Methodist Church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cumberland Heights, P.O. Box 90727, Nashville, TN 37209, or to Gallatin First United Methodist Church Music Program, 149 West main Street, Gallatin, TN 37066. On December 21st 2019, Robert Edward Cox Sr., husband of 47 years, father of 2 children, grandfather of 6, passed away at the age of 70. Born May 5th, 1949 to George and Leona Cox in Gallatin, TN. Graduated from the University of Tennessee. Married to Felicia Gibson on August 19th, 1972. Together they raised daughter Elizabeth and son Robert Jr. Robert loved to entertain all those around him. Any encounter, be it singing and dancing, masterfully telling a favorite joke, or twirling fire batons he was sure to leave a lasting memory. His classroom was an extension of this. He excelled at challenging and teaching his many students while keeping them entertained and focused. Quiet moments with family, watching movies, driving grandchildren home from school, and decorating for the holidays were favorites as well. If Robert loved you, his fingers were most likely in your nose at least once. His parents George Sr. and Leona, and brother George Jr. preceded Robert in death. He is also survived by wife Felicia, sister Gwendolyn, children Elizabeth (Rodney) and Robert Jr. (Carrie), grandchildren, Jackson, Mary Allen, Reese, Rebecca, Benton, and Corinne, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. Visitation will be Monday, December 23rd, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church from 1pm-3pm followed by a memorial service.
