Obituary of Norah Risinger Parker

Norah Mae Risinger Clark Parker passed away on January 5, 2020. She was born in Milan, Ripley County, Indiana on April 4, 931 to Noah and Ruby Elrod Risinger. After graduating from high school, she moved to Nashville TN where she completed the Nashville General Hospital School of Nursing. As a Registered Nurse, she completed the twelve month Public Health Nursing Program at Peabody College in Nashville. She furthered her nursing career in education in receiving both the Bachelor and Masters degrees from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. Her 30 years nursing experience included the operating room, public school nursing, practical nursing, instructor, two year nursing RN program as well as nursing administration. In 1952, she was married to Douglas E. Clark of Nashville and they reared four children Charles, Carole, Craig, and Casey. Douglas died in 1992. She is also preceded in death by her parents, sister Jewell, and brother Noah Denney. After 10 years of widowhood, she married Walter H. Parker of Huntsville AL. They continued their love of foreign travel until the after the trip to the Antarctic which completed for Norah visits to the World’s Seven Continents. Mrs. Parker was a member of the Guntersville AL First United Methodist Church, alumni organizations of UT, Nashville General Hospital, and Daughters of the American Revolution. In 2012, she was instrumental in the formation of the Marshall County, AL Parkinson’s Support Group. She was also instrumental in the completion of the Methodist Church state marker in her home church in Gallatin TN, Rehoboth United Methodist Church, which was erected in 2002.
