Obituary of Robert "Bobby" T. Garrett

GARRETT, Robert “Bobby” Thomas age 84 of Hendersonville passed away Friday, January 17, 2020. He was preceded in death by parents, T. Hugh and Lucille Garrett; sister, Jo Anne Garrett Turner. He is survived by wife of 64 years, Mary Moore Garrett; son, W. Jay (Syble) Garrett; brother, William (Roberta) Garrett; several nieces and nephews. Bobby was born in Mt. Juliet and lived in Hendersonville since 1967. He graduated from Dupont High School in 1954, attended Bethel College, served in the US Army Reserves and retired from Genesco after 42 years. He was an avid car enthusiast of several clubs including Middle TN Classic Chevy, AACA, Sumner County Vintage Vehicle and Vintage Chevrolet Club. He was also a Senior Master Judge. His most beloved membership was the Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was a life long member and elder. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, January 21st at 12 pm from the chapel at Sellars Funeral Home in Hendersonville with Reverends Ronnie Pittenger and Greg Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with Jason Craddock, Anthony Taylor, Don Turner, Charlie Ligon, Rick Garrett and Garrett Welborn serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Antique Car Club Members. Visitation with the family will be Monday, January 20th from 3-8 pm and Tuesday from 10 am until time of service. Expressions of love are greatly appreciated and the family loves flowers; however, if you prefer memorial donations the family respectfully suggests donations to the Hendersonville Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
