I remember taking Joe and Carolyn to the Hard Rock Casino when they came to visit me in Florida. Joe only played a few minutes on any machine so when he got up from a triple 7 machine I told him I was going play it and win his money. After just a few spins I won what he lost plus some more. We all had a good laugh over that. Going to miss both of them but they are together again.

Gonna miss my funny and sweet bingo partner. If he didn’t do good on a Sunday afternoon he would say “I’m gonna quit coming”. But by the next Sunday we were sitting in our favorite seats. There were a lot of times he would win, more than I would. Of course he was willing to spend more money than I was. He had so many friends there and they always spoke to him. He always came in smiling carrying his blue bag with his yellow daubers.
When we first started talking he never asked my name. I knew his because everybody else knew him. He sat down beside me one Sunday and took both my hands. He said “all the times we have sat together I never asked your name”. I told him Carolyn and his jaw dropped and he lost his color. He recovered and said “that was my wife’s name”. He went around telling everybody there about me being named Carolyn just like his wife.
During our time together we enjoyed each other’s company. I would cook and he would come and eat with me. Of course we would watch Alabama football. “Roll Tide”. He always said I lived in a refrigerator so he always wrapped up in a blanket while we watched TV.
After he was diagnosed with cirrhosis his visits became shorter. I took him several times to have the fluid drawn off his abdomen. He would always say “I hate coming here”. I would always say “but just remember how better you feel when it’s all over”.
He would always call me when he got off work before he started Home. I am sure missing those phone calls.
To his family I just wanted to share some things we did. He was a special friend to me.
Love to you all.
