Obituary of Melva Belle Black

Melva Belle Black, age 69 of Gallatin, passed away Friday, July 3, 2020. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 20th from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at The Grand Inheritance, 198 Hix Lane, Gallatin, TN 37066. Honorary pallbearers will be White House Dulcimer Players, Civic Center Coffee Table, Kay Beasley’s Long Hollow Sunday School Class, Walking Buddies (Special Friends); Bob Burnette, Randy “Moon Pie” Moore, and Marie Short. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice. Mrs. Black was born May 16, 1951 in Fountain Head, TN to the late Harold Piper and Betty Sloan Piper. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jerry Black of Gallatin; children, Jason Crafton of Gallatin, Maria Bly (Chris) of Gallatin; step-children, T. J. Black (Hunntere) of Tampa, FL and Kellie Black Morris (Matt) of Gallatin; siblings, Deborah Graves (Richard) of Cottontown, Sandra Mayberry (Benny) of Gallatin, and Lisa Balkon (Dave) of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Greta Suddarth, Aliah Crafton, Reagan Morris, Maddie Morris, Shelby Bly, Mason Black, and Darrian Bly; and great grandchild, Avery Dorris. Mrs. Black loved to be with family and friends, camping, riding horses, playing the Dulcimer, going to the beach, and going to the mountains. Melva attended Long Hollow Baptist Church, Gallatin Campus. She is now with her loyal dog, Raven. Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
