Obituary of James Columbus "Chris" Tyler

James Columbus “Chris” Tyler, age 85 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2020. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Nashville Road Church of Christ, with Bro. Tim Stricklin officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 14th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Family Heritage Funeral Home and Wednesday, July 15th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Martin Cemetery in Lyles, TN, with Kyle Tyler, Clay Tyler, Curt Tyler, Stephen Tyler, Jacob Tyler, and Brad Tyler serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Martin and the Elders of Nashville Road Church of Christ, Jim Cherry, Tony Butler, David Johnson, Jerry Watson, Alex Shirell, and James Spivey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriner’s Hospitals for Children (Burn Center), 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. Mr. Tyler was born September 15, 1934 in Hickman County, TN to the late Oscar Marvin Tyler and Nellie Johnson Tyler. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Tyler; sister, Betty Jo Tyler; and half-sisters, Nell Crook, Lorine Andrew, and Beula Crook Bishop. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Annie Laura Frazier Tyler of Gallatin; sons, Ty Tyler (Kimberly) of Gallatin and Chris Tyler (Ellen) of Chandler, AZ; daughters, Sonia Bell of Gallatin and Shirel Tyler of Gallatin; sister-in-law, Betty Tyler, of Hendersonville; 9 grandchildren, Kyle Tyler (Heather), Clay Tyler (Ashley), Curt Tyler (Megan), Stephen Tyler (Kelli), Leah Tyler, Jacob Tyler (Amelia Fisher), Holly Bell, Michelle Bell, and Charity Bell; and 3 great grandchildren, Jaede Tyler, Lydia Tyler, and Isla Tyler. Mr. Tyler served our country for 8 years in the Tennessee National Guard. He retired from Perelli Tire after 31 ½ years of service. Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
