Obituary of Billy S. Wootten

Billy S. Wootten, age 89 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020. Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 30th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Wesley Woods officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 29th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 30th from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gallatin Cemetery, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Gideons International, Sumner/East Macon Camp, P.O. Box 851, Gallatin, TN 37066. Mr. Wootten was born September 25, 1930 in Sumner County to the late Hubert Wootten, Sr and Mabel Porter Wootten. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, June Callis Wootten; and brother, Hubert Wootten, Jr. He is survived by his sons, Billy Wootten, Jr (Jan) of Jackson, John Wootten of Gallatin, and Chris Wootten (Tammy) of Gallatin; dancing partner and special friend, Margaret “Sweetie” Apple of Hendersonville; 7 grandchildren, Bryan Wootten, Kelly Kormos (Chris), Kim Ryan (Shawn), John Wootten, Jr., David Wootten (Kristy), Brandon Wootten, and Terry Wootten; and 3 great grandchildren, Ford Kormos, McCall Kormos, and Wesley Wootten. Mr. Wootten was a Charter Member of West End Missionary Baptist Church. He was the manager of the meat department at A & P Grocery Store in Gallatin and retired from the Gallatin Examiner as press manager. Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
