Obituary of Bettie Teasley Hill

Bettie Gene Teasley Hill, born July 5, 1937 in Nashville, left her home in Lebanon to return to her loved ones in heaven on September 2, 2020. Her family moved to Lebanon in 1947, where she attended McClain Elementary and Lebanon High School. She then attended Lindenwood College and graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1958. She married her soulmate, John Hill, on December 19, 1957 when they embarked on a lifelong journey, living in several different states courtesy of the U.S. Air Force, before settling back in Lebanon with their three sons in 1967. She proceeded to live a life of service with a full and giving heart as a Cub Scout Den Mother, member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, and Life Member of the Year-Round Garden Club. Where also a successful businesswoman, she was one of the three owners of the Ivy Wreath in Lebanon, and a much sought after interior designer. She loved making homes more beautiful. The Monteagle Assembly held a very special place in her heart, where her family gathered for generations after her great-grandmother was one of the initial lease-holders in 1882. She spent much of her youth there, and went on to serve as President. Bettie made MSSA a home for many and a Hill family gathering place for 30 years. She brought countless people together as she loved her family, friends, and entertaining them. More precious to her than any aforementioned accolades was her role of wife, sister, mother, mother-in-law, cousin, aunt, and grandmother. Known to many as, “Mabettie,” she instilled values of integrity, kindness, hospitality, grace, and a loving spirit in all those she encountered. Bettie was preceded in death by her mother, Christine Millicent Smith, her father, Charlie Lee Teasley, and her son John Reed Hill Jr. Her memory lives on in her husband of 63 years, John Reed Hill Sr., her brothers, Charlie and Thomas Teasley, her son, Keith and his wife Angel, her son Hugh “Happy” and his wife Alycia, her daughter-in-law Michelle, 13 beloved grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends whom she loved dearly. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 6th at 2:00 at First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon followed by a time of fellowship. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you send donations to the Empower Me Center, a local non-profit organization for individuals with disabilities.
