Obituary of Linda Joyce Douberly
Linda Joyce Douberly, age 74, a resident of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.
Linda was born in Sebring, Florida to Joseph and Anna Dean Wilson. Linda graduated from Appling County High School in Baxley, Georgia. Linda lived and worked most of her adult life in Waycross, Georgia where she raised two sons and put herself through nursing school at South Georgia State College. She worked as an RN and most of her career was spent working at Baptist Village in Waycross. In 2001, Linda married Lyndal B. Douberly and shortly thereafter relocated to East Tennessee. She continued working as an RN in Home Health Care until she retired in 2013. In 2019, Linda and Lyndal relocated to middle Tennessee to be closer to family. Linda was a member of First Baptist Church Gallatin.
Linda was a Godly woman and an incredibly strong woman. She is remembered as a loyal friend and hard worker. She was tenderhearted and was quick to stop and help anyone in need. She was an avid reader and loved working any kind of puzzle. Her family has fond memories of Linda’s quick wit and sense of humor and knows that she probably has everyone in heaven laughing as she tells something funny and ends with “I Suwannee!”
Linda is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Lyndal B. Douberly, her two sons from her first marriage, Rob (Kim) Chavis and Shawn (Beth) Chavis, her brothers and sister, Martin (Bonnie) Wilson, Joedy (Angie) Wilson, and Daisy (Ben) Wilson; her grandchildren Colby McBrayer and Aiden Chavis; and her step-children Debbie (Mike) Wilson, Danny Douberly, and Susan (Greg) Mayo, along with her step-grandchildren and one step-great grandchild, and a host of other friends and relatives. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
Linda left a legacy to her family of God’s amazing love and grace. We look forward to the day we will be reunited in Heaven.
