Obituary of Katherine Taylor Haynes

Katherine Taylor Haynes, age 96 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, September 15th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Jonathan England officiating. Visitation will be Monday, September 14th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, September 15th from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens, with Edd Scott Haynes, John Pope, Matt Hart, Alan Westphal, Jeremy Morris, and Trey Oliver serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 478 Craighead Street #200, Nashville, TN 37204. The family asks that anyone who attends the visitation or service wear a mask and please do not send food. Mrs. Haynes was born June 14, 1924 in Sumner County to the late Ira G. Taylor and Frances Durham Taylor. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edd Haynes, Jr.; daughter, Dianne Haynes; sisters, Mable Franklin, Margaret Johnson, and Callie Frances Long; and brothers, Harold Taylor, Joe Taylor, Gordon Taylor, and Kenneth Taylor. She is survived by sons, Glen Haynes (Thena) of Hartsville and Jeff Haynes (Eyvonne) of Woodbury, TN; daughter, Carol Hart (Steve) of Old Hickory, TN; sisters, Carolyn Goldsmith of Upton, KY and Deloris Lopez (Jim) of Elgin, TX; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Oliver, Edd Scott Haynes (Diane), Amy Pope (John), Matt Hart (Jessica), Andrea Morris (Jeremy), and Katie Westphal (Alan); and 12 great grandchildren, Trey Oliver, Mason Oliver, Reese Oliver, Emerson Haynes, Campbell Haynes, Grace Pope, Bella Kate Pope, Carly Pope, Lauren Hart, Eli Morris, August Morris, and Levi Morris. Katherine was a lifetime member of Bush’s Chapel Church of Christ. Mrs. Haynes retired as a secretary for the State of Tennessee after many years of service. She was the Sumner County Court Clerk for 2 years and worked for the Sumner County Election Commission for several years. Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.
