Obituary of Billie Jean Barber

Billie Jean Barber, age 92 of Gallatin, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020. Public visitation will be Tuesday, November 24th from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. with a Private Family Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Doyle Farris officiating. Private Interment will follow the service, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Hartsville Pike Church of Christ Youth Fund, 744 Hartsville Pike, Gallatin, TN 37066 or the American Heart Association, 1818 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203. Mrs. Barber was born May 21, 1928 in Dickson to the late Herschel Hooper and Floy Givens Hooper. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, William C. Barber; and sister, Oletha Nicks. She is survived by daughter, Brenda Sterritt (Ronald) of Gallatin; son, Danny Barber (Vincie) of Castalian Springs; brother, Sam Hooper (Mary Ann) of Tullahoma; sisters, Julia Parrish (Porter) of Nashville and Joyce Madden (Norman) of Dickson; 4 grandchildren, Rusty Barber (Shelly), Troy Barber (Meredith), Rachel Chelewski (Brent), and Stephanie Sterritt; and 4 great grandchildren, Laynie Barber, Lakelyn Barber, Reese Barber, and Chance Barber. Mrs. Barber retired from the City of Gallatin’s Public Utilities. She was a lifetime member of Hartsville Pike Church of Christ and was a volunteer for Friends of Sumner Regional Medical Center.
