Obituary of Connie Sue Yost

YOST, Connie Sue, age 72 of Nashville died Saturday, December 5, 2020. Mrs. Yost was born on March 2, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Paul Ellwood Slingluff and Eleanor Lozier Slingluff. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Russell Stephen Yost of Nashville; children, Jeffrey Yost (Leisha) of Franklin, TN, Kevin Yost (Tatia) of Weirton, WV, and Jason Yost (Paula) of Georgetown, KY; grandchildren, Alex Yost of Franklin, TN, Ashley Yost of Franklin, TN, and Kaiden Yost of Weirton, WV; brother, Dana Slingluff (Cindy) of Delaware, Ohio. Mrs. Yost graduated from West Liberty State College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and obtained her Master of Arts in Communication Studies from West Virginia University. She taught at both the elementary and middle school levels for over twenty years in West Virginia and Tennessee. Her love of teaching was evident by her smile and positive attitude. She believed in every student she taught and encouraged them to excel to the best of their ability. In 2008 she was honored to receive the Teacher of the Year award by Metro Nashville Public Schools. Mrs. Yost was an active member of Mount Juliet Church of Christ, where she enjoyed teaching a ladies Bible class, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She loved the Lord and walked her faith, gave sacrificially, and was a quiet leader and humble servant to all those she met. Her legacy will live on through the lives of her sons. Her family will miss her love, hugs, and encouraging words that she always said at the perfect time.
