Obituary of Doris June Doss

Ms. Doris June Doss, age 81, of Lafayette, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021, at Macon Community Hospital. Funeral services are private. Doris worked as a homemaker most of her life. She loved raising her children alongside her husband, Benny Doss. They enjoyed going on family vacations to Daytona Beach, watching Nascar, going on fishing trips, and ball games of all kinds. She loved being part of the kids sports life, taking them to practices, games, even coaching and managing a state championship women’s softball team. If she wasn’t watching Brave’s baseball, she was watching Titan’s football, Notre Dame football or women’s college basketball. Doris was saved as a young girl and was a member of Brattontown Missionary Baptist Church. Trips to Indiana, Mississippi, and Florida with her sister , Hollice Hire and best friend, Kathy Carter were times she often talked about and cherished. Doris helped build a great business (Doss Auto Parts) and beautiful life with her husband of 50 plus years. After losing her son, Keith in 2017, and her husband, Benny in 2018 her life was centered around her daughters and their families. She even liked being around her grand puppy, Festus. She took up coloring in 2015 and enjoyed it until she was called to her heavenly home. The family request donations be made to Sherry’s Run, Drury Cemetery, or Long Creek Cemetery. Doris June Doss was preceded in death by her husband, Benny Doss; parents, Elmer McGuffey and Delia Gross McGuffey; son, Keith Scruggs. She is survived by; Daughters, Jacqueline Massengille and husband, Steve Tonya Wells and husband, Marty Sister, Hollice Hire Granchildren, Mandy Scruggs and fiance, Steve B.J. Scruggs and companion, Lauren Lauren Trask and fiance, Justin Great-Grandchildren, Madison Scruggs Landon Scruggs Memphis Scruggs Bella Trask Blakley Heady Sister-in-law, Brooke Crunk Special caregiver, Billie Ruth Carver A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, step grandkids, and step great-grandkids also survive.
