Obituary of Sylvia Ann Smith Graves

Sylvia Ann Smith Graves, age 81 of Castalian Springs, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021. Funeral Service will be Thursday, February 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Stephen Russell and Jacob Graves officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 24th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, February 25th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Crestview Memory Gardens with Sam Clark, Brandon Clark, Jacob Graves, Daniel Bowman, Edwin Carter, Danny Troutt, and David Graves serving as pallbearers. Flowers are appreciated, or memorials may be made to Family Heritage Funeral Home to assist with Funeral expenses for Sherry Carter. Mrs. Graves was born August 4, 1939 in Gallatin to the late George Wesley Smith and Myrtle Bohanon Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by grandson, Robert Gregory; daughter, Sherry Carter; brother, Tommy Smith; and sisters, Dorothy Alexander, Lula May Anderson, and Charlene Lecker. She is survived by husband of 63 years, Thomas Graves, Jr. of Castalian Springs; children, Donna Clark (Clay) of Castalian Springs and Tim Graves (Tammy) of Castalian Springs; sister, Peggy Burton (Johnny) of Nashville; 9 grandchildren, Amy Gregory, Ed Carter, Jr, Glen Gregory, Sam Clark (Brooke), Brandon Clark (Christina), Heather Biggs (J.L.), Jacob Graves, Ella Graves, and Kortnie Graves; 14 great grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Graves retired from Gary Manufacturing “The Shirt Factory” after many years of service. She loved all her family and enjoyed being at all her grandchildren’s sporting events. You could always hear her ‘rooting on’ her grands on the sidelines. Mrs. Graves enjoyed collecting dolls and lamps. She was an avid quilter and loved working in her flower garden.
