Obituary of Lewis Wayne Pope
Lewis Wayne Pope, age 80 of Bethpage, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021. Funeral Service will be Friday, February 26th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Jerry Peace officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, February 25th from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service on Friday, February 26th at Sumner Memorial Gardens, family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Pope was born May 14, 1940 in Trousdale County to the late Lillard Carl “Jack” Pope and Ruby May Petty Pope. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Carl Pope and Charlie Pope; and sisters, Lorene Goodman, Julia May Johnson, Delma Jewel Fisher, Ina Marie Balch, and Grady Maxine Haynes. He is survived by wife of 57 years, Lillie Jo Escue Pope of Bethpage; children, Deborah Kay Neal (William) of Castalian Springs, Michael Joe Caldwell of Carthage, Larry Neal Pope (Tina) of Gallatin, Pamela Sue Harris (Charlie) of Westmoreland, Tony Randal Pope (Vickie) of Bethpage, and Rhonda Gail Billen (Joe) of Bethpage; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Mr. Pope served our country in the United States Navy. He drove a truck for Roadway Express and then retired from Roy Flowers Trucking after 41 years of service.
