Obituary of Gayla Darnell

Gayla Darnell, age 56 of Portland, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 10th at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. James Mallard officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 9th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, March 10th from11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Crestview Memory Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Darnell was born October 24, 1964 in Gallatin, TN to the late Charles Brown and Shirley Miederhoff. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by daughter, Katie Danielle Young; and stepfather, John Richard Miederhoff. Gayla is survived by husband of 24 years, Ronnie Darnell of Gallatin; children, Joshua Darnell, Allison Darnell, and Amber Darnell; step children, Alicia Darnell, and Zachary Darnell; mother-in-law, Faye Covington (Mack) of Gallatin; siblings, Johnny (Darlene) Brown, Cindy Brown, Richard Miederhoff, and William (Quinna) Miederhoff; and several nieces and nephews. Gayla loved spending time with her family and taking care of her children. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and butterflies, along with planting flowers in her garden.
