To my dear friend Sharon,

When you moved to NY, straight out of Texas, you were, for me, a breath of fresh air. How lucky was I to have the friendliest neighbor our neighborhood ever knew.

You and I spent many sweltering summer nights laughing on the stoop. Snow days and adventures during winter blizzards, stray cat rescues, walks with Buddy Charles and stories of life in Texas over a cup or two of coffee.

Thank you for always being there in a pinch to help me out with Jazzy, for allowing us to adopt you as her grandma and sharing your worldly wisdom. For every time we fell ill and you brought us oranges and peppermint, thank you. On 9/11it was you who rushed to my daughter's school when I couldn't get home fast enough. Thank you for being there for her birthdays, communion, your favorite holiday of Thanksgiving. Thank you for being there at my lowest, for always sharing a positive word, a smile or a friendly wave hello.

Thank you Sharon Kay Avrett for being that quirky and eccentric person that brought color to my world. I only wish we had more time. Love you Sharon - May God rest your soul and until it's time to meet on that stoop again. ❤️
