Obituary of Mr. Lance Lashaun Woodard

Mr. Lance Lashaun Woodard, age 37 of Portland, TN passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 at his home in Portland, TN. Mr. Woodard was born January 21, 1981 in Springfield, TN. Mr. Woodard is survived by his mother, Debra Woodard-Smith of Portland, TN and his brother, Carlos Woodard of Portland, TN. Several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many close friends also survive. Lance was preceded in death by his step father, Jeffery Smith and his grandparents, Dorethea and Aurther Woodard. Lance was a Director at Nashville State Community College in Nashville, TN. A young man that had an appreciation for education, Lance attended and graduated from both Nashville State Community College and Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN. Lance graduated with a 3.55 GPA taking courses including accounting, economics, computer design and networking along with many other challenging courses to attain his Bachelor's Degree. Home going services for Lance will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Portland, TN. Burial will follow Restlawn Memorial Garden in Cedar Hill, TN. Pastor Gray Jones will be officiating the services on Saturday and Gladys Jones will be giving words of comfort. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until service time Saturday at Gilbert Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Curtis Woodard, James Sangster, Keith Ferguson, Jason Doolittle, Will Plunk and Stephen White.
