Obituary of Harry Sandidge

Harry Sandidge passed from this life on February 9, 2024 at age 82. The Funeral Service is 1 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2024 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Lebanon TN. Brother Gordon Lee and Brother David Rhodes will officiate. Family friend Tristan Pope will provide the music for the service. Interment in Baird Memorial Cemetery, Hickman TN, will follow the service. Pallbearers: Bob Dillard, Brady Hearn, Cody Hutcherson, Daniel Reasonover, D.W. Sharp, and Scott Sharp. Sharp’s Men’s Bible Study Group will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

               Harry Charles Sandidge was born on January 29, 1942 in Maryville TN to Anna Mae Simerly and William Sandidge. Harry was raised in Maryville TN and attended Wildwood Baptist Church where he was saved at an early age. He attended Porter High School in Maryville and graduated from Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy in Seymour TN. He attended Hiawassee College in Madisonville TN.  Harry Sandidge married his high school sweetheart, Madge Kyker, on September 8, 1961 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Maryville TN.  Shortly after marriage, Harry enlisted in the United States Air Force and served Honorably from 1961 – 1965.

               Harry and Madge settled in Lebanon TN in 1969 because of his job with Farm Bureau. He worked for TVA and retired from General Accident Insurance. Harry served on the Wilson County Fair Board. Harry and Madge have been members of Hillcrest Baptist Church for the last 14 years and Harry rededicated his life to Christ on March 19, 2017. He truly enjoyed the brotherhood of the Sharp Truck Sales Bible Study Group. His other interests included outdoor activities of fishing, hunting, farming, and landscaping.  League bowling and UT football were also favorite pastimes, as was time spent with his friends and family.

               Harry was voted as Mr. Harrison Chilhowee High School as well as Wittiest and Most Popular. Harry never met a stranger and valued each of his friends dearly.

               Mr. Sandidge is survived by his wife of 62 years, Madge Kyker Sandidge; daughters: Connie Jane Combs and Sandra Caroline (Bob) Dillard; grandchildren: Amber Brook Combs, Keely Lauren Combs, Morgan Olivia Dillard (Brady) Hearn, and Hallie Cameron (Cody) Hutcherson; great-grandchildren: Jaycee Porterfield, Ella Johnson, Eva Hartwell Hearn, and Harriett Simerly Hearn; sister: Margaret Sharber; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents Anna Mae Simerly Sandidge and William Sandidge, step-mother Ila Sandidge, brothers William Sandidge Jr. and Kenneth Sandidge, and sister Barbara Whitehead.
